Estrada to Mets

November 21, 2007 – 3:32 pm

Well the Mets apparently are not bringing back Paul Lo Duca - they traded for former Brave Johnny Estrada yesterday from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Guillermo Mota, a middle relief pitcher.

Estrada batted .278 last year with 10 homers and 54 RBIs, while Mota finished the season 2-2 with a 5.76 ERA after serving a 50 game steriod suspension. Estrada has not been the most efficient as of late - he threw out a low number of baserunners (13%) last year and also had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee as well as a bone spur removed from his right elbow.

With the continued decline of Estrada and the rise of McCann, Master Schuerholz looks once again like the genius we know he is. Originally acquired for Kevin Millwood, Estrada peaked with the Braves. We traded him for two starter/relievers and now he’s only worth one half-decent roided-up reliever.

Interesting watching the Mets - let’s see how the season goes…
