Justice Served?

David Justice is upset, and rightfully so, regarding the implication in the Mitchell Report that he used performance enhancing drugs.  I heard him on a replay of a talk show where he denied using HGH and said that though he did have a conversation with his strength trainer and purchased a kit, he did NOT use it once he realized it was injected with a needle.  He also adamantly claimed he had never even seen steroids.

Justice’s biggest thing was the ‘proof’ he offered – that his stats actually decreased in the 2001 season.  I think I may believe this guy.  He admits he had a conversation, bought and never used it, and the results appear to back him up in this case.

It will be very interesting to see how the Sportswriters take it.  They do NOT like voting people into the Hall of Fame if they are connected to performance enhancing drugs, and some people are even questioning Roger Clemens’ chances.  Now you tell me, if Clemens is in danger from this thing, how much more is Justice tainted?

Unless Justice clears himself sufficiently, I highly doubt he makes the Hall this year – his first year on the ballot.  He may be able to squeak in later, but for some reason I have doubts that the Sportswriters buy it.

In other random Braves news, Willie Harris was signed by the Washington Nationals to a one-year, $800,000 contract.  At least we get to see him play frequently, eh?

*Sigh* Willie to the Nats . . . I still don’t agree with this decision one bit.

Aw shoot – I liked Willie a lot – he was a good guy, lots of speed, plus a good bat when he was hot. Plus the dude could sing =P

About the whole steroids thing…it’s gonna be interesting to see how everything plays out. I agree with you on Justice, if his stats had gotten better after that year, obviously there would be more room for worry, but I have a feeling if he was guilty he wouldn’t have even admitted as much as he did.

i don’t want to believe it. however, i believe that a lot of steroids, if not taken “as directed” can cause some serious side effects, and definitely not those that are intended. what if he started taking them, changed his mind, and his performance just significantly dropped off afterwards? i’m just playing devil’s advocate. i definitely don’t want it to be true.

i will miss willie. plus, he was the only thing that kept me from truly hating the soulja boy song.
