Hampton Leaves Game with Injury
Written by Colin on March 7, 2008 – 4:30 pmMike Hampton left the mound in the second inning of today’s game against the Detroit Tigers after appearing to have injured himself. Bobby Cox and a trainer went to the mound before pulling the lefthander, who was in the midst of a bid to return to the rotation after missing two seasons due to elbow surgery.
Braves.com is speculating that it’s a groin strain – not a re-injury of his recently hurt hamstring or and elbow issue. He’s listed as day-to-day but they pulled him at least as a precaution.
He looked good in his first start on Sunday against Houston, when he pitched two scoreless innings. He was facing Scott Sizemore with one out in the second inning immediately before he left the game.
More to come as we hear it.

Well here we go again. I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s out for this season as well. I don’t want to think that, but time and time again, this has proven to be the case.
For the time being, let’s hope that it’s not serious….

I am going to need Mike Hampton to get it together, stretch more, something. He is an amazing opportunity for the Braves this season. Their pitching is going to be the deciding factor of the division. I hope it is not too serious.
