So I'm missing the start of the game for the first time this season for a meeting. Hopefully I'll be home to help cover the second half of the game.

Hudson needs to look strong tonight, but more importantly, the offense needs to get it in gear.

Injury updates:

- Glavine is feeling good on the hammy and is throwing hard off the mound. Good news to hear
- Hampton threw off a mound for the first time today, and he felt good. No telling when he'll next injure himself. Anyone want to start a pool?

And we're underway. Kelly swings on the second pitch and pops it up to shallow left field. I wish he'd be more patient.

Wow - great play by Chipper - snagged a harsh line drive from Ramirez.

Two more quick outs - flyouts to Diaz and Kotsay, and we're headed to the second.

Hudson is looking good - his pitches are staying down. Would like to see the Marlins not hitting the ball as hard, though.

Teixeira is off to a slow start - and though he fought off a few foul balls and waited for a pitch he liked, the result is the same.

Francoeur hits a bloop to short center and we have a bit of a collision. Wind helped that one - Francoeur ended up at second.

McCann hits another short popup to short center, two out. We've got to get Francoeur on the board early.

Passed ball, Diaz to third. Now they're going to intentionally walk Kotsay.

Huddy's up - and he could hit in college.

Josh Willingham is at second after a nice double down the left field line. We've got to shut this down.

Jacobs grounds to first, Willingham to third.

Brandon - absolutely. We've got to get some support for Hudson tonight. Let's hope he can get out of this trouble without giving up a run.

Struck out the pitcher, now Hanley Ramirez is up with the bases loaded and two outs. This'll be tough.

Hanley hit the ball hard his first time up - just right at Chipper.

On another note, I don't get the pine tar on the helmet thing. Ramirez's helmet is absolutely smothered in the stuff.

A popup to Kelly Johnson in short right ends the half inning, but Hudson is working hard. After a 7 pitch first inning, he's pitched 36 this inning. Too many pitches are just skirting the corners. This isn't what we hoped to see tonight. The offense is going to have to come alive and put some runs on the board.

It's unrealistic to depend on our aces every game, so its on our offense to step up. It could have been worse there.

They're showing some video of Hampton throwing from the mound today - no pieces fell off that I could see, but it was an upper body shot.

KJ strikes out.

Yunel swings first pitch and drops a single into right field. Almost got through the defense, but he's on first.

Brandon, you're right, we can't rely on the aces.

Earlier they mentioned that Glavine was going to probably have a rehab start or two before he comes back, but we'll know for sure soon.

Chipper singles to right, runners first and second. C'mon, Tex.

I don't, Brandon. He'll start soon, we know that it'll come. Who else would you hit cleanup? We have to let him settle into his spot and get comfortable. I think Tex is best in the four hole. Nobody's gonna be dumb enough to pitch around Chipper to get to Teixeira right now, they know he's due.

Popup to Yunel for the first out.

Long fly to Francoeur for the second out. Lots of fly balls tonight.

Massive line drive home run for Mike Jacobs. He hit that ball hard. 4-1, Marlins.

Another single given up to left.

McCann is out to talk it over with Hudson and McDowell. We're gonna need some relief pitching this year with this many pitches so far. Jorge Campillo is up and throwing out in the 'pen.

Glavine should pitch Saturday, it seems.

I agree Colin. It's a matter of time before Tex settles in for the season and his bat lights up. Moving the order around would show a lack of confidence in his power.

Tough night for Huddy.
