James Takes The Start Against Dodgers

Written by Jonathan on April 19, 2008 – 11:31 am

With Tom Glavine making his first career trip to the disabled list, Chuck James steps in to take the start today.  James was called back up from AAA Richmond last night when Glavine was placed on the DL.  James has been rehabbing some of his own injuries however, but hopefully this start will be a little kinder to him than his last.  In that game, he gave up 6 runs in only 3 innings of work.

The Braves are coming off of two straight strong offensive showings and looking for a third consecutive win.  They seem to be happy to be back home and Chipper Jones is on fire with 4 home runs in his last two games.  It’s time to get a good win streak going and inch our way back towards .500 baseball.  Most of the BravesBlast staff will be at the game today, but I’ll be sure to keep this game thread updated via BlackBerry as best I can.

    Ugh, Chuck James.

I just have this feeling like Kyle Davies disguised himself and learned to pitch lefthanded and hid James’ body somewhere.

Tex with a leadoff double in the 2nd.

Blanco strikes out with two on to end the inning. No runs on the board.

Leadoff single for the Dodgers but they lose the runner to a double play. Line out to left to end the inning.

    How’s everyone doing today?

the braves are leaving way to many base runners stranded

Seems to be a common trend this season. I think that’s 4 already today.

james is having a better start than the last one

Well, he’s made it an inning farther into the game than last time and given up 5 less runs so far.

The offense isn’t looking great today however.

2 run single for Tex! 2-1 Braves.

Bases loaded for Frenchie. We need to keep this going. I don’t think Billingsley’s going to last much longer.

    4-1 Braves. RBI for Frenchie.

RBI for Kotsay. McCann thrown out at the plate, pretending to be fast.

Campillo in for the Braves. I like this kid and given the pitching troubles we have, I hope he sticks around.

i like this campilo guy im sure he will stick around for a little while anyways expecially if moylan is out for the whole year

Still think it was Davies ;) I dunno if Davies could have gone five innings with just the one run given up.

What I’m a little peeved about are the commentators, they are horrible. The just Loney struck out on a change-up….definitely struck out on a breaking ball.

They keep saying the Braves won last night 5-1…how has no one corrected them on that? This is why I love our hometown commentators and love listening to the radio when we are on national stations.

That’s why you should be at the game with us instead, Akshay. ;)

I think the chances of Moylan coming back are a little slim. I think the Braves are in the denial phase right now. But Campillo has looked great since being called up.

Blanco’s quick. I still like him.

Campillo left a lot to be desired with those bunt attempts, but at least he can pitch.

Nice to see the infield turning some double plays.

I wish I could go to the games. I’m working on my personal statement right now, gotta get my evaluation letter packets to teachers so I can get some recommendations :(

In disabled list news: Mike Hampton threw a pain free bullpen session…Braves still not holding their breath he’ll be able to pitch.
