Jurrjens Tries For Sweep

April 20, 2008 – 10:31 am

Jair Jurrjens has pitched a lot better this season than his 1-2 record may indicate.  In his 3 appearances thus far, he has only given up 8 earned runs; the offense just hasn’t provided the needed run support to help get him in the win column more often. The Braves’ bats have looked hot in the last few games however, so here’s hoping they can continue that today to get Jair a win and earn a sweep of the Dodgers.

I’m looking for Jurrjens to go at least 6 today and leave the game in a position for the bullpen to earn him a win and I definitely would like to see an absolute blowout.  However, Kuroda is pitching for the Dodgers and has looked about on par with Jurrjens thus far this season.  He’s 1-1 and given up 8 runs as well in 1/3 inning more work than Jurrjens.  Should be a good day for afternoon baseball. I’ll be heading to the stadium for batting practice and keeping things updated from the game again.  And for those reminiscent about the old days, the game today is on TBS.

Jurrjens out of the inning with a strikeout to Andruw Jones. Looks like one of his goals is accomplished.

The real question is, why is Andruw batting cleanup?

Kelly Johnson with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the 5th. I guess he’s making up for his inability to field so far this game.

Prado in to play for Chipper. Anyone know what happened?
Chipper was a little slow coming out of his slide on the double last inning. Hopefully he didn’t reinjure himself.

So we’ve left 12 on base today. Converting some of those would be nice.
