Braves Look For Interleague Series Win

Written by Jonathan on May 18, 2008 – 1:37 pm

The Braves are 1-1 in their series against the Athletics thus far this weekend.  The offense, outside of the ninth inning, last night was putrid, not posting much to talk about for the rest of the evening.  Today, Jo-Jo Reyes takes the mound looking to continue to prove that he belongs back in Atlanta for a full-time job.

It’s a great afternoon for some Sunday baseball, let’s go Braves!

I’m trying to enjoy this weather while we have it…..Atlanta summers get here quickly and are pretty brutal at times.

We’re working on putting together a softball team for later this year. Should be fun.

Reyes really gained some confidence after that second inning deal, he looks like a completely different pitcher out there.

Confidence is a big thing for Jo-Jo right now….if he gets shaken early, he’s in trouble. So it’s good to see him pulling some tough situations out.

Especially the second time through the lineup, let’s see what he can do the third time through. I’m not willing to give up on him until he stinks for at least three straight starts, which he hasn’t done yet. If he’s solid, it’ll be a little less to worry about out of that fourth starter spot.

Okay, missed a little there doing some things around the house. Still 3-1 Braves, mid-5.

Jo-Jo’s done after giving up a run in the top of the 6th. 3-2 Braves, 0 out, runner on second.

  22. By Akshay on May 18, 2008 | Reply

Reyes goes 5.0, 2 ER, 2 BBs, 6 Ks and the runner on second his responsibility, solid outing, but not the 6 to 7 innings we need out of our starters.

  23. By Jonathan on May 18, 2008 | Reply

I’ll take that over some of his other outings . . . he seems like a much more solid pitcher since being called back up.

Boyer threw curve balls on 3-2 to the last two guys and got them both, great job getting out of a third base, one out situation.

2-run pinch hit triple for Omar Infante. 5-2 Braves.

  26. By Akshay on May 18, 2008 | Reply

We traded Ascanio for Ohman AND Infante…nice, I’d say right now we’re getting the better end of that.

Ohman’s called on to do his usual: get the lefty out and he got a strikeout, good work.

  28. By Jonathan on May 18, 2008 | Reply

    Ballgame…..5-2 Braves.
