That Road Trip Wasn’t Horrible

That road trip wasn’t horrible – instead of going 0-10, the Braves won 4 games and finished the road trip 4-6.  Now, .400 baseball isn’t great, but considering the Braves had won six games on the road – this season – before the road trip, I’m happy to walk away with four (nearly five) wins.

Mike Gonzalez is back, giving us some stability at the back end of the bullpen, and hopefully pushing everyone else a slot or two.  The starters are looking good, and right now it’s our offense that isn’t clicking.  Free-swinging Francoeur needs to build more discipline.   Tex needs to get out of his Texas-sized slump, and Chipper’s batting average has even dipped to touch .400 a couple times.

I have to be happy coming home right now.  Yeah, we lost Smoltz for the season and Glavine til after the All Star break, but we’ve got Morton and Reyes stepping in and stepping up.  Things could shape up here.

Time for some home games against the GM-less team from Seattle – these should be winnable games.  Seattle is .347 on the season.  Tonight we’ve got Campillo on the mound for us.  Campillo looked great his last time out, let’s hope he can keep it up.

Come on out to the ballpark, cheer on the offense, and see the giant new Chick-Fil-A tomahawk-chopping cow above left field.

Thank you! Some optimism fully warranted by the last 7 games. I mean, to swoon like we did in Chicago and still come out of the road trip 4-6. I don’t know, feels like maybe, just maybe we turned a corner in Anaheim, and that we’ve got something to be hopeful about for the rest of the season.

On the other hand, the downfall of the last two years was not building on these little upticks when they happen.

Glad to hear someone else is feeling Chipper about this upcoming homestand. Let’s keep up the positive attitude.

If you want something funny, check out this quiz. Match a list of strange injuries to a list of people – which injuries happened to Braves players, and which injuries happened to Spinal Tap drummers?
