Francoeur Heading to AA Mississippi
Written by Dan on July 4, 2008 – 2:12 pmIn some breaking news reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Braves will be or already have demoted OF Jeff Francoeur to AA Mississippi. The reason for the demotion will be for Francoeur to work with former coach and mentor, Phillip Wellman. The Braves will apparently promote Jason Perry (not Brandon Jones?) to replace Francoeur.
This is quite the shame for Francoeur that his star has fallen this far. Perhaps he can get things figured out at the minor league level and come back up swinging in a week or two. Now being seven games out of the NL East lead, this should be a very scary sign for Braves fans.

I really hope Frenchy can turn it around, he’s one of my favorite players and it kills me every time he doesn’t deliver. But hopefully this will be better for us in the long run, he almost homered in his first at-bat on an 0-2 pitch but ended up walking (from an 0-2 count, seriously).
At the same time it’s great to see a former Tech player (Jason Perry) get a chance to play. I wonder if they brought him up for defensive purposes more than offensive, but hey he tripled in his first major league at-bat so good for him.

What bothers me is not that JF”K” is headed to Mississippi but his “shock” about it and the comments he made. If you’re struggling as bad as he is you need to take assignments as a way to salvage your career and realize that honestly you’re not contributing.
Well we got a win yesterday. Another one on the way today?
We’ll see.

Well the guy thought he was the golden boy and apparently impervious to things like minor league assignments and slumps that bad – and this is a NASTY, season long slump.

I’m happy to see Perry taking his place for the time being. It’s nice to see another Georgia Tech player taking the field here in Atlanta.

Personally I hope he gets it together and comes back strong! If Francoeur turns it around both the team and him benefit……
