It will be a little weird rooting for him as I've always disliked Taveras but the way our bullpen is beat up I don't mind getting a little help. He can start and relieve. Being a closet Red Sox fan, I have watched Tavarez quite a lot in the past. He features a splitter that when he locates it low, will get him a lot of ground balls. He struggles keeping it down consistently, which is why his ERA has balooned. Tavarez, will not save this bullpen, but he offers a spot starter and a mop-up guy. I am very happy to see them make this move, he is a very charismatic guy and should make the clubhouse a fun place for many players so long as he doesn't think that he deserves a bigger part on the team. The Red Sox are paying a significant amount ($3.85 million) to play for the Braves. I think that he is a rag arm and a waste of a roster spot.
