Perhaps, it would have been better to wait it out until 3:55 on the 31st, but I will argue that Kotchman and Marek are at least at the value of the two prospects they would have received in the draft in 2008. Unfortunately, this package will not equate to that of what was sent to Texas last year for Teixeira. We just need a guy to fill in right field until Heyward is ready, I'm pretty confident they'll find something in the offseason, whether it's Jason Bay or another free agent. Marek throws mid-90s, has experience as a starter and reliever, and has a ton of strikeouts in his minor-league career.
