BUT we should not waste our time in a bidding war with people over Sabathia. Make a reasonable offer for him and let it ride. Outside of that, we need a power bat in the lineup. We're lacking in that and small ball can't win it for you every time. 1 big name pitcher, 1 middle veteran pitcher, 1 power bat. Those are my main hopes. Francoeur is talented but he needs some refining - it takes time for great players to develop, it doesn't happen overnight. Check out his 2006 stats, playing nearly full time. Also, bid up Sabathia so the Yankees pay dearly for when he hits 375 pounds and doesn't have the same stuff. They also want a second pitcher, I say Javier Vazquez, he needs to get out of high-pressure Chicago and the White Sox will probably want to get rid of him.
