Garret Anderson Is A Bitch

If you missed it, Garret Anderson turned down a minor league rehab assignment (as is his right) and I think we as fans have every right to be pissed off about it.
Before I rant, the official position is that Anderson has every right to turn down said assignment. He doesn’t feel he’s missed enough time to warrant a trip to the minors for a rehab stint. The Braves are believed to be surprised with the decision. Anderson is currently missing time nursing a calf injury after originally missing time with the same injury.
That said, the man pisses me off. Haven’t missed enough time to warrant a rehab stint? How about you look at it the other way, Garret? You haven’t played enough to warrant a stint in the big leagues. 25 at-bats. Seriously. And when you HAVE played, let’s be honest – you’ve only batted .231 with 3 runs scored. No homers. No RBIs. Those are minor league stats. And it’s not like we’d have shipped you off to Mississippi or anything – you’d have to drive 45 minutes north to Gwinnett to play with the Triple A ballclub.
Get a life, Anderson. You’re not the Braves’ star player. You’re not even a fan favorite working his way to stardom. You’re an injured veteran who needs to prove he can contribute to the team. You haven’t PLAYED the time necessary to demand time in the majors – when you have played, it’s been sub-par, and don’t even get me started on easy pop flies into foul territory. I didn’t even know you could be charged with errors on foul balls until you managed to figure out how to do so. Prove you care about the Braves – put that ego away, go to Gwinnett, play with Tommy Hanson and the boys, and stop whining.
Quit being a little bitch. Heal up fast, too. We didn’t pay you to sit on the bench – we’ve got plenty of talent to do that.

Well said. Thank you. The phrase I used to describe him when I read about this was "Worthless Sack of Shit." Yes, he has every right as a veteran of howevermany years to turn down a minor league assignment, but that doesn't make it the right move. He should ask Bob Wickman what happens to guys who place their personal interests above those of the team.

I'm perfectly fine with letting that piece of crap sit on the bench, so long as he doesn't cost us wins in the field. We could've had Ryan Ludwick in LF. Instead, we have Garret Anderson. Sigh.

Nope, I disagree. We have guys in the Minors that actually produce.
Main thing is, …he is there and he is going to get "his".
Bobby is giving him some serious kudos by batting him 4th in the lineup considering he hasnt done jack squat since spring training. All I remember him doing is dropping two consecutive foul balls in the outfield that cost us the game. Are there bonus stipulations in his contract for dropped balls or lost games via a non "give a shit" approach??
I dont even want to think about him. I honestly think it would be in the Bravos best interest to wave the guy…(and yup, pay him because no one else will)….and let the young hungry guys in AAA play out some games for us and actually get a base hit and catch a ball or two.

It's funny because its true, which is unfortunate. Hopefully Wren will realize this and get someone else to platoon with Diaz. Somebody who wants to see this team get back into the playoffs.

Actually not from braves fans everywhere. I would prefer Anderson be in the lineup working out the kinks. After all isnt that was Francouer has been doing for us in the lineup for a year plus? So contrary to that, you are the bitch. Reference: Anderson since coming off the DL.

And you're certainly entitled to your opinion. He's done alright since coming off the DL, sure. But his stats prior were definitely more reminiscent of minor league stats than the GA we expected to see. Thus, we felt he should have taken the 45 minute drive to Gwinnett. Why not??

You probably are not a bitch. Just like Anderson is probably not a bitch either, but since you get to sound off on him amongst most other braves fans since signing him, I felt he deserves someone on his side for once. Just because the guy has a reserved personality and turns down a AAA tour does not neccessarily make him a bitch. A little extreme if you ask me especially considering what the braves have put up with over the past season plus of Francouer basically getting to call the big leagues a place to learn and adjust. Now I have learned to deal with Francouer doing what he does I can certaintly deal with a 36 year old .290 veteran standing in there making the adjustments. Is that too much to ask for from our only real LF option that we paid a bit a money for. It sure did not take that long for him to start making the adjustments. Still a ways to go, but, it's already looking a little promising.
