Rick Ankiel: A True Brave

Written by Colin on October 9, 2010 – 1:25 am

Rick Ankiel has had a Braves uniform since he came over from the Royals mid-season. He’s traveled with the team, started occasionally, and been practically useless with the exception of a couple outfield assists.

But late Saturday night, with the electric crack of bat on ball, Ankiel launched the ball into McCovey Cove and himself into the ranks of the True Braves. As he held up his right index finger and rounded the bases, astounded Braves fans across the nation pinched themselves to make sure they weren’t dreaming. He crossed home plate, giving the Braves a 5-4 lead, and high fived everyone in the dugout.

Many a player has donned a Braves uniform. But only a select few become True Braves – a meaningless title bestowed upon them by credentialless bloggers like myself. Detractors may point out that Rick Ankiel probably only hit that home run thanks to leftover HGH, but on a crisp cool night in San Francisco, he proved himself a True Brave.

All you bloggers writing crap like this about the Yankees can DIAF. Series tied 1-1 and coming back to the Ted, so let’s not screw this up, Bravos. Can’t stop the chop!

When the Giants took an early 4-0 lead Friday night at Atlanta Braves, who knew that could not be easier. Not for these giants. They dined out in shattered nerves throughout the season. Rick Ankiel http://apusa.us/rick-ankiel-3922/
